Mail.app in Leopard - the new stationary templates features

Just had my mac at home upgraded to the last version of Mac OS X: Leopard. After the 1,5 hour long install session, I was pretty excited when the apple logo reappeared after the last restart. It was way past my go-to-bed time (11 pm), but knowing that I would never get any sleep before I at least had the chance to stroke the new kitten.

First impression

Mail.app features tested

  • The new Stationery templates – nice! (Lets hope we will be able to create our own templates)
  • Todo-lists and notes – guess I will be using them, but the notes don’t seem to sync with your notes.app
  • Build in RSS reader is nice, but will the UI handle 30 feeds with no folder system?

Spaces – Linux like splitt desktops

There have been 3rd parts application for this, but in Leopard Apple has build it direct into the system. Connect different applications to different screens, one for dev, one for adobe..

Time Machine

The new backup utility require a extra disk so I haven’t tried it out yet. But compered to excisting apps, I think the use will differ. With software like Retrospect you only turn to them in big crisis (ie disk crash), while Time Machine invites you to a daily use.

iLifes missing in Leopard..

The last thing I wanted to check out was the iLife package. Opening iPhoto I was keen to see how it would group my pictures in events. But sorry pal, the cat only got nice lives, but no iLife.
